CrossCountry staff are taking part in industrial action this weekend.
There will be limited services through Macclesfield on Saturday, December 6, with 'significant disruption' expected to be caused by strikes organised by the RMT Union.
Passengers are advised to plan return journeys carefully, with services that do run anticipated to be 'busier than usual' and finishing much earlier in the day.
The strike will impact services on the busy Birmingham to Manchester route, which stops at Macclesfield.
Shiona Rolfe, the operator's managing director, said: “We are disappointed that the RMT has announced more industrial action that will disrupt customers over the busy Christmas period.
"We’ve worked hard to make a fair and reasonable offer that addresses the key points raised in this dispute, and we believe we’ve made meaningful progress in negotiations.
“Our priority is now minimising disruption for those travelling on Saturdays in December – but while we will try to run as many services as possible, there will inevitably be significant disruption.”
There is also action planned on December 13 and 20, with CrossCountry set to release more details on this in the coming days.
