Macclesfield Salvation Army celebrates 'truly inspirational' volunteers
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 4th Jun 2026
The Salvation Army is celebrating Macclesfield's community spirit this Volunteers' Week.
More than 20 people currently give up their spare time to assist the outreach work of the local branch of the Christian church and registered charity.
Located on Roe Street, the Macclesfield Salvation Army supports the most vulnerable members of our community with weekly food banks, fellowship groups and coffee mornings.
Hazel Dibben, community mission facilitator at the Salvation Army in Macclesfield, said: "Volunteers are a very special part of our church and we're so thankful for all that they do to ensure our work can continue as without them giving up their time so generously, we simply couldn't do as much as we do and the people in need within our community would sadly suffer.
"The time our volunteers dedicate to supporting us really does transform the community that we serve, they are truly inspirational.
"Volunteering isn't just about helping, it is about being an active and integral part of an organisation and our volunteers bring ideas that inspire and challenge us to be better, making a real difference to everyone and allowing us to support more people in Macclesfield. We are privileged to serve alongside them."
Volunteers' Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June.
Launched in 1984, the initiative provides organisations and communities a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their efforts.
