A popular pub event for the curious mind has made its post-pandemic return.

Rachael Chiverton, a local business owner, has success relaunched Macclesfield SciBar after a break of two years.

These free talks on anything STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) run the fourth Monday of every month at The Park Tavern, on Park Lane.

This means the Macclesfield event will return for the first time this coming Monday, May 23.

SciBars are informal discussions about science over a pint of beer, glass of wine or cappuccino in a pub or bar.

An expert delivers a short introduction to a topic and then a discussion ensues – it's your regular pub debate, just a bit more organised.

You don't have to be an expert, any level of question is welcomed – this is an opportunity to learn more about a topic that sparks your interest. SciBars are open to everyone and are free (except for what you spend on drink or food).

The SciBar is set up and run by local volunteer, Rachael Chiverton, who regularly hosts networking events across Macclesfield.

Everyone is welcome, although lucky people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

So far this year talks have included topics ranging from tips to help you sleep and how technology can help us use time more effectively. The first talk is on "How to design almost anything".

You don't need to register to attend, just turn up before 6:30pm on Monday at The Park Tav To find out about upcoming Macclesfield SciBar events.

You can also order food to accompany the talk.
