A Macclesfield masseuse is celebrating ten years since she started her business.

Aggie Ralphs started Combat Revival Clinic, of Chapel Street, ten years ago.

Her services include sports massage, deep tissue massage, Medical Chinese Cupping (fire and cold), myofascial release, and hot stones massage just to name a few.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Aggie for a chat about her business, currently celebrating the major milestone.

"I specialize in injury treatments and soft tissue conditions, like chronic back pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, trapped nerve pain," she said.

"I use lots of different techniques, from traditional massage and myofascial release therapy, through Chinese fire cupping, gua sha to acupuncture.

"I believe that best way to deal with any condition, is combination of holistic and medical approach. My clients come from all walks of life: I have helped amateur athletes, as well as office workers and tradespeople.

"I also do specific conditions protocols, like premenstrual syndrome or carpal tunnel, and skincare facials.

Aggie estimates she helps 98 per cent of people that walk through her door. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"There are not many practitioners out there, who can do what I do, and my clients a best proof of that. They all keep coming back for either maintenance or every time they get injured."

Aggie moved to Macclesfield 20 years ago from Poland, due to heartbreak, and instantly fell in love with the town.

She started working in nursing, before getting involved in martial arts for a bit of fun in 2008.

The rose through the belts, and then one thing led to another and she became qualified as sports massage specialist, going onto start Combat Revival Clinic.

"I am very lucky to be here in Macclesfield. I feel very at home, it has been lovely throughout," she revealed.

"16 years ago I got into jiu-jitsu, grappling and kickboxing.

"I thought if I had a knack of breaking people, I could also mend them.

"What started as a hobby, I learned to do sports massage and turned it into a business.

"When I first started, I worked in different gyms, but now I am based on Chapel Street.

"I turned a room in my house into a clinic, it helps me stay flexible with appointment times and also keep the prices down.

" The clinic is cosy and gives you sense of calm and security, before the not always pleasant treatment.

"To fix a broken body, you have to go deep, and that can be painful. I play rock music to help my clients to relax.

"I've been called a witch, a miracle worker, a human meat tenderiser... all with love."

Her home studio also allows her to work late, which suits many of the 'nine-to-fivers' that require her services.

Aggie works from 10am to 8pm Monday to Thursday in the evening.

She can also be booked on Sunday afternoons from 3-7pm.

"I get a lot of people coming to me as a last resort," she explained.

"They have been through NHS physiotherapy, chiropractors, and they never feel better. And they walk through my door, so I try to find what is the actual problem and mend them as much as I can.

"My favourite story is from a couple years ago, I had a man in his 30s who came to the door, holding to his heavily pregnant wife after a slipped disc.

"And about an hour later, I put his disc back in place, he gets up and says 'actually, I can walk now, and he walked by himself'. He now tells that story to everyone else."

Word of mouth has been a pivotal cornerstone of the business, which does not advertise.

"If you go to a gym in Macclesfield and you are injured, my name will often get mentioned up," she added.

"My prices are way below that I should be charging, I don't do discounts anymore. [Except for fellow small business owners that are part of Totally Locally Macclesfield.]

"I charge around £40 per session, for 45 minutes, but the price varies on body type and condition.

"It feels unreal to have reached ten years.

"It still feels like I just qualified ten years ago.

"But at the same time, I have done so much more than I expected to achieve.

"I have had clients that have been with me for ten years.

Combat Revival is part of Totally Locally Macclesfield, so every session you can have your Totally Locally Macclesfield card stamped as you would with any other businesses that take part in the scheme that supports independent businesses. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"Thank you for the support over the years."
