The first impact of Christmas mixing in Macclesfield has been revealed, as coronavirus stats for five days after Christmas Day are ready.

As the incubation period for COVID-19 is five days, we can start to see how cases have risen as family and friends met up for Christmastime.

All but one ward in Macclesfield had case numbers in the triple figures, but hospitalisations remain low.

Here are the current case numbers for the ten wards Macclesfield Nub News covers.

We have compared the current case rate with the difference noted of the seven days preceding December 23, Christmas Eve Eve, for which you can find in brackets.

Wards Listed in Alphabetical Order with Cases for the Seven Days up to December 30

Brackets denote increase or decrease on cases from the point of seven days prior Bollington 164 (+48) Central Macclesfield 262 (+69) Gawsworth & Macclesfield Forest 160 (+21) Macclesfield Bolinbrook 157 (+27) Macclesfield East & Hurdsfield 169 (+26) Macclesfield South & Lyme Green 121 (+24) Macclesfield Tytherington 116 (+8) Macclesfield Weston 159 (+62) Macclesfield Upton Priory & Greenside 164 (+78) Prestbury & Adlington 70 (+3) The total amount of positive tests reported across Macclesfield for the seven days leading to December 30 is 1542. This means that cases have increased by at least 366 from Christmas Eve Eve to December 30. Comparing to December 15, 529 positive tests were recorded on the seven days up to December 15. 1013 less than the most recent data. It is unknown how many of the positive tests are the Omicron variant. Vaccination data has been released for January 2 2022, meaning we can see the impact of the pop-up jab site at the Waters Green Medical Centre, which ran in the last days of 2021. Central Macclesfield has 83.3% with at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. 78.2% have had two jabs. 55.1% have had a booster. These are the lowest vaccination rates in the Macc area. In more GOV.UK figures, one person with coronavirus went into hospital on 24 December 2021. Between 18 December 2021 and 24 December 2021, 23 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 109.1% compared to the previous seven days. There were 23 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 28 December 2021. There were zero coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 28 December 2021. There were no deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 4 January 2022, the most recent dataset available. Between 29 December 2021 and 4 January 2022, there have been seven deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 600.0% compared to the previous seven days. Macclesfield MP David Rutley joined calls to get vaccinated from the virus this winter. "Please take the opportunity to get vaccinated, if you haven't had your first, second or booster dose," he said. "It will help protect you, your families and the wider community. Many thanks to all those who are making this possible." Labour Cheshire East Councillor Sally Handley said "None of us wanted to be here again – but we can't just wish the coronavirus away. We have to work together to beat it. "The best thing you can possibly do for your health, your family and your community is to make sure you are up to date with your jabs. So if you are due for your booster – please book it now – and if you are still to have your

jab, please, please don't delay.

"The vaccine isn't just safe, it has already saved tens of thousands of lives in this country and millions around the world.

"Whatever your reasons for delay, please look at this again – not just for your own safety, but because more vaccinations today mean fewer restrictions more quickly in the future.

"Here in Cheshire East we have always worked together as a community – now is the challenge of our lives. Please follow the guidance, please get jabbed, and please stay safe."
