Macclesfield: The Treacle Market launch appeal for more volunteers

Still buzzing after January's Treacle Market? Do you have a love for all things Macclesfield?

Well, the organisers of the Treacle Market have launched an appeal for volunteers.

It is to help the Treacle Market achieve their goals of holding more events in 2022, and to also help those who do not know their way around the town well, as one of their other aims for the year is to attract more non-Macclesfield residents to our town, in addition to the already-loyal Macclesfield visitors.

Andy and Becky Thompson, who have co-organised the Treacle Market for six months, are after passionate people to join their team of volunteers to help the monthly-market run smoothly.

"We're always looking for volunteers", said Becky Thompson.

"It is just to marshal on the day, to crowd control a little, and to help set up in the morning.

"We're really friendly, just give get in touch on email or Facebook, we'd love to chat with you.

"We would love to have someone on each entrance to a Treacle street such as someone at the top of Chestergate, someone at the top of Market Place, someone on Exchange Street, to help everyone make sure they know where they are going.

"We'd be very grateful to anyone that can give up a few hours to help," added Andy.

"There is always a pie and a pint available at the end of it.

The next Treacle Market will be held on Sunday February 26.

You can get in touch to register your interest in volunteering via Facebook or emailing [email protected].
