Macclesfield: Week of sustainable activities on anniversary of Bollington declaring 'climate emergency'

Bollington is to host a packed events calendar next week, full of events appreciating the environment, four years to the month after local politicians declared a 'climate emergency'.

Bollington Town Council declared a 'climate emergency' in June 2019 (as did Macclesfield Town Council).

And in June 2023, the Happy Valley will be holding 'Bollington Goes Green Week'.

The event is part of a nationwide initiative of community action to tackle climate change, as well as to celebrate and protect nature.

The festivities kick off at Saturday 10th June 10am-4pm, with an art exhibition at Bollington Arts Centre on Wellington Road.

The exhibit will featuring artwork from all four Bollington primary schools with the theme "Bollington Goes Green".

Free entry. All welcome.

As is a Cheshire East Ranger wildflower meadow walk and talk, held on the same day from 10am to 12pm.

For this, folks will meet at meet at Cloughbank car park, off Grimshaw Lane, Bollington, SK10 5PT.

Throughout the week, there will be the Bollington community is invited to decorate a window for week, with the theme of flora and fauna.

A winner will be selected by new Bollington Mayor Helen Ellwood.

A fascinating food and climate change talk will be delivered at Bollington Cross School on Bollington Road. Tuesday 13th June 6.30pm, and once again is free entry.

The week will culminate with a community litter pick on Sunday 18th June 10am to 11.30am.

The all-ages event will begin at Bollington Town Hall (opposite the Arts Centre).
