For some, going for a walk and getting out into nature is a therapeutic and rewarding. But doing a charity hike could easily increase that feeling by tenfold.

So why not get out and about this weekend to raise money for a Macclesfield area charity?

This Sunday on the morning of July 31, a six-mile walk to raise funds for The Bridgend Centre will take place.

Charities have had it rough since the pandemic, with the Bollington good cause being no exception. The Bridgend Centre has a disability-friendly hub the community can visit on Palmerston Street, and has served the local area for 32 years.

"The Bridgend Centre is an integral part of the local community in Bollington," said Rebecca Lea.

"We work to enhance the quality of life for residents and community members by providing a caring, inclusive, and supportive environment.

"We provide a variety of activities and services to improve the lives of those living in and visiting our community, and we support those with mental health issues, learning disabilities, and help older people, who may feel especially isolated or vulnerable.

"Sunday's walk will be a challenging - almost six-and-a-half mile walk up in the lovely hills above Bollington, following our famous 'Nostalgia Hill Race' route.

"But it will be worth it! And there is a hot beef sandwich with gravy and a drink at the Holly Bush at the end of it. Vegan and child options are also available.

"It is £10 for adults to take part and £5 for children. Thank you to everyone for their support."

The community charity is located on 104 Palmerston St, Bollington, Macclesfield SK10 5PW.
