It is the Treacle Market this weekend, and on top of your favourite stalls, to seasonal shopping, there is big news from the Treacle Market this month.

Not only will the dog show take place, but the Treacle Market has a new logo for only the second time in its history.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Co-Organiser Becky Thompson to find out more.

"The rebrand and the Dog Show are the two big things this month," said Becky.

"The new signs and banners are in force around the town.

"That has been a long-tine in the making, we are pleased to finally launch it.

"We have wanted to do this since few took the market on, but not to do it just for the sake of it.

"A big thank you to Macclesfield's Dick Vincent artist, who has worked us very closely on the rebrand, he does posters for each market already, so it feels nice to join everything up branding wise now.

"It has not had a refresh since the Treacle Market's creation in 2010, so it is nice to put something new out there."

"We are working with Erin Hounds, a wonderful local rehoming charity who will have a presence on the day.

We are delighted to have Tony Holmes from Hadfield as the judge, a well-known shop owner and rescue dog owner himself. So it seemed perfect for him to be our judge this year.

"Registration from 10:30am, and the judging will start from 12:30am.

"To register, just turn up with your dog outside St. Michael's Church.

"Prizes are being supplied by a multitude of businesses, including local doggy businesses like Beerscuits and B&V Trading.

"We attracted all over 100 entries last year, so hopefully with some decent weather we will have a blast and raise some money for a really important charity Erin Hounds Sighthound Rescue."

The dog show has eight categories to enter; loveliest lady, handsomest dog, best puppy, golden oldie, best rescue, saggiest tail, dog judge would like to take home, best in show.

"We have a very bust market this month, at full capacity," said Becky.

"And fortunately, managed to squeeze in a few of the ad hoc stalls from last time in as well, like Green Tab Clothing, vintage football shirt store Squadra.

"Music wise we kick-off as ever with the Saints and Sinners, followed by energetic drum band Karamba.

"Singer Amina from Manchester will be on again next. And on Castle Street Dos Equis will be back, playing tunes to compliment all the food on Castle Street.

"Thank you to Macclesfield all your support with the Treacle Market, we look forward to these next few markets as we approach the festive period and the Treacle Market's 15th anniversary year."

The Treacle Market is on from 10am to 3:30pm, this Sunday.
