It is the third Treacle Market of the year this weekend!

So we caught up with Macclesfield couple Becky and Andy Thompson.

They spoke candidly with Macclesfield Nub News on what we can expect this Sunday in Macclesfield.

"Sunday will be a Mother's Day spectacular," Becky said.

"We're loving co-organising the market in what is now our eighth month."

A big new addition this month is a much requested requirement. Extra seating.

Council funding has also allowed deckchairs in the space between the Old Butter Market and the ice cream fan.

The deckchairs have a historic relevance to our town, with a Macclesfield Stripe pattern being used.

There will be more new seating on Unicorn Gateway, so you can enjoy the corner food stall on Market Place.

Nearby, the Market Place bar this month will be Lyme Green company Caravan Bar.

Musicians will include Macclesfield's very own jazz-guitar duo Dos Equis. Priory Lane charity Macclesfield Music Centre will also perform at midday.

Acoustic northerner Zoe Kyoti will also make her Treacle Market debut.

Other performers include Kirk McElhinney, who will make their second Treacle Market appearance and first of 2022, and Bollin Brass on Chestergate.

This, combined with the local art-and-DJ booth hosted by electric cargo company ELOV, completes Andy and Becky's vision for their to be music on each corner of the market, especially now that the good weather is in full swing.

"On the subject of music. We're really excited about how the town will look on Sunday with the Ian Curtis mural, it looks so fantastic," added Becky.

"And as it is Mother's Day, I'd like to give a shoutout to power woman Becky," added Andy.

"I've been so busy with our business we run outside of the Treacle Market. She's done all the organisation work this month."

"Elsewhere the Macclesfield mobile barber Jimmyscissors is coming back outside the Old Butter Market, we're really trying to build up around there."

As the nicer weather has begun, the whole town has got Treacle spirit.

Numerous businesses around town will be launching new initiatives.

Chestergate's Monocle deli have a pop up shop from Loola Love.

The Button Warehouse and The Random Apple Company are also hosting Treacle Day events on their Macclesfield premises.

The Copper Room on Chestergate will also launch a new afternoon tea menu - which will make a perfect post-shopping treat for mum.

And The Picturedrome's relatively new deli offering will welcome a Bollington business into their doors for the first time.

For the duration of the market on Sunday, The Picturedrome support the well-loved local deli Knowles Green Creative Tasting, who have a premises on Bollington's Wellington Road.

Mark and Dagmara of Knowles Green are excited to partner with The Picturedrome, and offer a similar philosophy of promoting local and regional produce.

"Dajmara is an artisan cheese maker and butter-making champion," said Mark.

"So our focus [for Sunday] will be a selection of cheese provisions, chutneys, crackers and some artisan salamis as well. Mostly English, but a selection of continental as well. We try and get as local as we can.

"We first became acquainted with The Picturedrome after we started to stock the mussel stout from Savages Mussels."

"Our cheeses can be bought from 10-4 on Sunday, for you to buy and takeaway," said Dajmara.

"It will be the best of the cheeses that we also sell in our shop in Bollington."

To compliment their Treacle Market partnership with the Bollington deli, The Picturedrome will be offering special charcuterie boards as well.
