A former Macclesfield Chinese takeaway have announced a comeback with a new service.

Wok's Cooking - formerly of 90 Mill Lane - were forced to shut their takeaway last October after 38 years in business. This was as their landlord wanted to sell property.

Five months later, The family business have now decided to launch 'Wok's for Dinner' - a brand new online business.

Customers who used to visit the closed takeaway can now cook their favourite Wok's dishes in their own kitchen, thanks to a new food box service.

"We have re-invented Wok's Cooking into something that caters for the growing changes in habits with food," especially since Coronavirus, said Jennifer of Wok's For Dinner.

"We noticed that there was a gap in the market, when placed next to giants, such as Hello Fresh and Gousto, but there were no online food delivery boxes, which catered for East Asian & South Asian recipes specifically.

"Wok's For Dinner aims to fill this gap in the market and we're starting off with our locals first!

"We currently only deliver within Macclesfield and the surrounding areas.

"We know this food box is a massive change from takeaways, which is what our customers expected.

"However, we do really believe that once customers start to see how the food boxes work, we'll gain more traction and they'll want to get involved with learning to cook takeaways in the comfort of their own home.

"Our recipes are easy-to-follow with six simple steps."

There are three food plans to order from, feeding families of two, four, and six respectively.

Your box will contain a recipe with instructions and ingredients. You can also choose the frequency of how often you'd like to cook your favourite Wok's dish.

For example, a weekly delivery of Salt and Pepper Crispy Chicken for a family of six costs £33.55. But you can switch your meal of choice as time goes by.

But there aren't just meat options. There are options for vegans, vegetarians, and pescatarians.

They cater for other dietary requirements as well, such as gluten-intolerance or lactose-intolerance, and there are also lighter options.

"We allow our customers the choice of ordering a one-off delivery boxes or a regular subscription (weekly, fortnightly or once-monthly)," added Jennifer.

"They're in full control and they get to pick their delivery date and we'll get to work to pack up the fresh ingredients and deliver it to their door.

"You can also cancel the subscription at anytime, so no commitment is required from the customer.

As we grow, we'll look into expanding further afield and hopefully nationwide!

"As well as Macclesfield town centre, we currently deliver to Tytherington, Bollington, Prestbury, Bosley, Poynton, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Congleton.

"The postcodes that we are currently delivering to: SK10 1, SK10 2, SK10 3, SK10 4, SK10 5, SK10 9, SK11 0, SK11 6, SK11 7, SK11 8, SK11 9, SK9 1, SK9 2, SK9 3, SK9 4, SK9, 4, SK9 5, SK9 6, SK9 7, CW12 1, CW12 2, CW12 3, CW12 4, CW12 9, CW4 7, SK7 4 and SK12 1."
