Trade at a Macclesfield hybrid vape and coffee shop has increased by a fifth, after they moved from Church Street to Mill Street.

Formerly located on 19 Church Street, the e-cigarette and hot drink seller moved to 80 Mill Street in March.

Bollington resident Thom Maggs (34), who makes some of the e-liquids he sells at the store, is grateful for the support of Macclesfield following the big move.

"The first month has been wonderfully chaotic," he said.

"We did the whole move in a week, and worked 160 hours between me and my employee Sam.

"On the first day, we served about three days worth of business that we'd have done at the old store.

"We're seeing exponential growth. On the whole we're doing about 20% more business than we did in the old shop.

"Coffee sales have also gone up massively now that we've got a bigger store. We're attracting both more vapers and non-vapers now.

"We also have outdoor seating here, and will hopefully have outdoor seating at the back of the shop [facing the bus station] as well."

"We even had customers which helped paint the new shop, it is almost a community here as much as it is a shop.

"We have about 200 regular customers now, and I know almost all of them by name."

The e-liquid manufacturer came up with the idea to serve Pott Shrigley's Kickback Coffee at his store, when he saw a gap in the market creating a relationship between vaping and hot drinks.

"Coffee and smoking has always gone hand in hand. So why not vaping?," he told Macclesfield Nub News.

"The coffee side of the business has also been doing great since the move. We've had loads more non-vapers coming in for a quick coffee.

"During the Treacle Market we had a huge group of older ladies come in who loved it. They didn't even realise we were also a vape shop."

In the near future, Thom will launch five new vape juice flavours he has made - Blue Raspberry Ice, Apple Sour Ice, Strawberry Kiwi Ice, Blackcurrant Ice and Lime Ice.

It will be the first new flavours to have been created in his new clean room, which is a contamination-free space used to make e-liquid.

His current clean room is three times the size of his old one, meaning he can work more efficiently, and sell even more products across the country.

Next up for Thom, he will start to make exclusive making products for other Macclesfield vape businesses, and will revamp his website.

Coming up for the café side of the business, Thom will start selling his own traybakes at the Wreckless Vape Shop store.

As well as vaping products and locally-roasted coffee, Thom sells frappes, milkshakes, and various soft drinks.

If you're struggling to find Thom's shopfront, he is located across the road from the new mural of Joy Division member Ian Curtis.

"Even two months after it has been launched, people are stopping outside the shop to take pictures of the mural," he added.

"I think it is great as it has brought completely different people down to this end of town, who wouldn't stop here before.

"I would love to see more murals across Macclesfield, it will bring more people here in terms of footfall for businesses as well."

Thom also is looking for a business to partner with, who will go upstairs in the unit.

The new Wreckless Vape Company premises is based on 80 Mill Street.
