Macclesfield's only professional forager has released a new book.

James Wood (a perfect name given the nature of his job does) has authored the new release

Foraging Mushrooms A Guide to Foraging & Cooking with Wild Mushrooms costs £14.99.

The book confronts the general public's fear of mushrooms, and takes the reader on a mesmerising fungi adventure.

James, who has lived in Bollington, got his start in his profession through backing of the group Enterprising Macclesfield.

He's appeared on the telly, acquired an office in Stoke, and earned a living hosting guided foraging tours.

His previous books include a cookbook on things you can find in Macclesfield and Bollington.

Speaking in a newsletter, James described the book as follows: "In our goal to make foraging as accessible as possible we've spent the last couple of years bringing together information on the edible mushrooms we find most often and our favourite recipes to cook with them."

"We've also pulled together an identification flow chart which is truly a game changer when starting to learn about fungi.

"This fantastically fun and colourful book will have you exploring the great outdoors with newfound excitement as you discover the incredible variety of edible mushrooms hiding in plain sight.

"With expert guidance, you'll learn how to confidently identify, harvest, and cook a myriad of wild mushroom species, transforming them into scrumptious dishes that will steal the show at any dinner party."
