Multiple Macclesfield businesses nominated in county-wide awards
Four Macclesfield companies have been nominated for county-wide awards.
The finalists have been announced for the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards 2022/23 with more than 50 businesses and individuals shortlisted across 16 categories. And a quartet of Macclesfield businesses are celebrating.
The Silk Museum's Paradise Mill Team, have been rewarded for their history-preserving efforts on old Park Lane with a nomination in the Team of the Year award.
Mottram Hall could win three gongs, being recognised in the Large Hotel of the Year Category, alongside Wedding Venue of the Year. Employee Jay Herrington is also up for an Unsung Hero award.
Jodrell Bank is up for Visitor Attraction of the Year, and is looking like a shoe-in given the new £21 million pound attraction that opened there earlier in the year.
Forest Distillery, which make gin and whiskey inside the old Cat and Fiddle pub in the Taste of Cheshire Award category.
"The award nomination is awesome for us, said Forest Distillery Co-Founder Karl Bond.
"We're still growing the distillery to be recognised for our products is amazing. We are proud to represent the area, and to see our Cheshire made products sold all over the world is something that we are very proud of."
If any of the Macclesfield businesses win a Cheshire Tourism Award, they will go on to represent Cheshire at national level at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023, giving them the chance to showcase Cheshire's outstanding tourism offer.
In a statement, Macclesfield Museums said: "Our team at Paradise Mill (part of The Silk Museum) have gone above and beyond."
"They are extremely passionate about the restoration of our Jacquard Looms, a really important part of Macclesfield's history and indeed the international history of silk and textiles. We wish them the best of luck."
There are 16 categories for the awards, including Visitor Attraction of the Year, Pub of the Year, Large Hotel of the Year and Unsung Hero, which will be held at Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington on 23 March 2023.
The awards are all about giving hotels, attractions, pubs and more a chance to show why they are a must-visit and recognise the excellence and outstanding achievement by local businesses and individuals working in Cheshire and Warrington's visitor economy.
Nicola Said, Commercial Manager at Marketing Cheshire, said: "As always we've had a fantastic response to the awards and I want to thank everyone who took the time to enter.
"These awards are our chance to get together and celebrate all of the excellence in our visitor economy here in Cheshire and showcase what we have to offer.
"They also offer a chance for the winners to go on and shout about Cheshire at a national level at the VisitEngland Awards in June.
"Tourism and leisure is so important to our economy and these awards give us a chance to show just why so many people choose to come here."
