New exclusive product encourages Macclesfield to quit smoking for vaping

A new vaping product which is better for the environment than most e-cigarettes, is trying to encourage Macclesfield to stop smoking.
Airscream is specifically designed to be used only by adult smokers, to get them to quit cigarettes.
It is cheaper and less fiddly than regular e-cigarettes, and has less disposable parts than the in-trend disposable e-cigarettes, so is better for the planet as well as a person's health.
Wreckless Vape Company, of 80 Mill Street, is stocking the product as an entry into the world of vaping.
Business owner Thom Maggs (34) explained what it is all about.
"We were approached by Airscream to be their first stockist in the UK", said Thom.
"The aim of the project is to try and enable current smokers to make the switch, to use non-combustible devices to improve their health.
"The goal was also to do it in a way which is affordable. It is almost too affordable, as you can't get a full kit and juice together elsewhere for £11.99. It is unheard of."
Smoking prevalence is higher than the national average in Cheshire East, and Macclesfield has seen a prevalence of vape shops.
However, Wreckless stands out by making many of their own e-liquids and serving coffee alongside their vapes.
And now with a new partner, their stock has expanded once again.
Airscream flavours include bubblegum and pink crystal.
"It is a really simple device because it is literally just a snap in pod," added Thom.
"The pod are pre-filled with juice which come in ten flavours.
"The pods are disposable, but if you enjoy a flavour you can make it more sustainable and switch it to a refillable one.
"You also get more for your money. The max you get in a regular disposable is two millilitres. But with this kit you get in a pack 2x 1.6ml pods so 3.2ml in one pack pod. And, plus the batteries last longer and they are fully rechargeable.
"It is more eliquid for your money, as it is aimed to be a more cost effective device which can stop people from smoking.
According to NHS England, "Nicotine vaping is substantially less harmful than smoking. It's also one of the most effective tools for quitting smoking."
In 2019, the government set an objective for England to be smokefree by 2030, meaning only 5% or less of the population would smoke by then.
Liz Truss reaffirmed this commitment in one of her last acts as Prime Minister.
2019 figures suggested 14.1% of the population smoked cigarettes, that's about seven million people.
ONS figures also suggest vaping prevalence in England in 2021 was between 6.9% and 7.1%, meaning just over three million adults vape.
Thom is grateful to the Macclesfield community for their support.
"We believe vaping is better than smoking as it does not contain the thousands of chemicals that are in cigarettes, some of which are carcinogens," Thom also said.
"The Royal College of Physicians are the world-leaders in studying vaping, and they say it is at least 95-98 per cent safer than smoking tobacco.
"Finally, I'd like to thank our customers again for their support. Since we moved from Church Street to Mill Street, our business has increased.
"It has been nice to meet new people and even serve non-vapers our locally-roasted coffee from Kickback Coffee roasters, based in Pott Shrigley."
