By Alex Greensmith 9th Oct 2023

Tickets go on sale today for a leading UK folk artist, coming to perform near Macclesfield.

Penzance-based folk singer Sarah McQuaid will perform at Gawsworth Hall next month.

Said to be 'keeping the heart of British folk beating' by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, her gig is part of the Cheshire Rural Touring Arts (CRTA) autumn programme.

She'll take to the stage on November 12 at Gawsworth Hall. Tickets can be purchased at: www.ticketsource.co.uk/cheshireruraltouringarts.

You can listen to a seasonal piece performed by Sarah by clicking the play button at the top of this article.

CRTA is a partnership between Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council and is funded by Arts Council England. It delivers high-quality professional performances like Sarah's, in intimate spaces across the county.

Other local CRTA events in the coming months includes a play about Shakespeare in a pub, as well as swing and opera concert in Goostrey.

Macclesfield West and Ivy Cheshire East Councillor Nick Mannion said: "As a predominantly rural county, shows like these are the lifeblood of our villages and also provide great opportunities for theatres to come and perform in places that they wouldn't always get to show off their talents."

Full performance details and online booking is available on the CRTA website.

The vice chair of Cheshire East Council's economy and growth committee added: "It's a two-way win and I do hope that as many of our residents and visitors to the borough will get a chance to enjoy one of the varied shows taking place this autumn."
