A Macclesfield opticians is expanding its offering to become a dedicated hearing hub, providing enhanced audiology services to customers.

Staff at Specsavers in the Grosvenor Centre have undergone training to deliver a range of audiology services – including hearing tests, hearing aid fittings and ear wax removal – using the very latest in industry technology.

Heading up the hearing hub is Laura Deakin, who has recently been appointed the role of audiology director, alongside hearing aid dispensing apprentice, Leigh Steele, who started his apprenticeship at De Montfort University last year after a 13-year career at Specsavers.

Laura will be responsible for ensuring that the store's audiology services are running to the highest standards and that the team meet the hearing needs of the local community.

Specsavers Macclesfield ophthalmic director, Daniel Williams says: 'We have always offered high-standard audiology services in store, but now we have secured official 'hearing hub' status, we can go one step further.

'Customers can expect a quality, convenient and thorough hearing assessment, as well as being able to select hearing aids and access aftercare services all within our hearing centre,' he continues.

The audiology team will conduct a series of tests to determine whether or not a customer has hearing loss, and if so, will guide them through the process of selecting the right hearing aids for their specific needs. Ear wax removal will also be available for private customers.

The store also provides options for a range of hearing protection aids, which are available for activities such as swimming, music, work, cycling or sleep plugs.
