There's a new person at the helm of a trust which oversees multiple primary and secondary schools in Macclesfield.

The Fallibroome Trust, which runs Macclesfield schools like Nether Alderley Primary School, The Fallibroome Academy, Whirley Primary School, Adlington Primary School, Broken Cross Primary and Upton Priory School, was formed in 2010.

Now they have chosen Jeremy Spencer as the successor to the retiring Chief Executive Peter Rubery.

Spencer moves from a similar role at the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, which has schools in Stockport, Derbyshire and Nottingham. He held that position for three years.

"It is a pleasure and a privilege to serve as The Fallibroome Trust's Chief Executive Officer (CEO)," he said.

"Our Trust has strong values and great people. This makes us what we are. I am so proud of the immense efforts, energy and skill that are poured into each and every day of school life by our talented staff and stakeholders.

"We continue to look outward and move forward at pace to ensure that we work to 'the level of the best' to provide the highest possible quality of education – in a safe and nourishing environment for the pupils in our care.

"I left my full-time role with Ofsted in 2019 to pick up the 'Senior Director of School Improvement' role in a large 25-school strong Trust.

"The Trust secured a 100% school improvement record during this time, with all schools previously judged to be 'inadequate' securing a 'good' judgment, and one school previously judged to 'require improvement' being judged 'good' for the first time in twenty years."

The father-of-three was educated at the University of Reading.

The Fallibroome Trust said in a statement: "Before joining the St Ralph Sherwin CMAT, Jeremy spent his entire career in education and educational leadership.

"This included headship of two schools that moved to Ofsted 'Good' and 'Outstanding' under his leadership. He worked for just under ten years as one of Her Majesty's Inspectors, and Senior HMI, for Ofsted across the East Midlands, the East of England and London. He also served as part of Ofsted's national policy team.

"We believe that Jeremy brings a wealth of experience and skills which complement our Leadership Team's strengths and together they will deliver the very best outcomes for the pupils in our Trust family of schools."

David Rutley, MP for Macclesfield, has welcomed Jeremy Spencer into his new role with a meeting at The Fallibroome Academy on Priory Lane.

During the meeting, Mr Spencer set out his ambitions for the Trust over the years ahead. Supporting young people in addressing the impacts of the pandemic was a key issue, as well as providing continued support with student's broader education and bolstering assistance with mental health and emotional wellbeing, after recent challenging years.

This important local Trust includes ten schools: seven primary schools and three secondary schools in our local communities.

Six of these primary schools, as well as Fallibroome Academy are based in the Macclesfield area.

Speaking after the visit, David said, "The Fallibroome Trust plays an important role in the lives of many pupils and their families across the Macclesfield area. It was a pleasure to meet with Mr Spencer to discuss his future plans for the Trust.

"I am most grateful to his team at the Fallibroome Trust and teachers across our communities for all of their hard work during the pandemic and in responding to its wider impacts. I look forward to working with Mr Spencer over the years ahead."
