New community mental health service launches with permanent hub in Macclesfield

A new community mental health service has launched in Cheshire East, providing adults with a non-clinical space to access support.
The Link, delivered by Independence Support and commissioned by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is now up and running.
With its main hub located at 1 Park Street, The Link is open to adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health, emotional distress or struggling to cope.
Dave Appleton, head of nursing at Independence Support, said: "Accessible community support has an important role to play in helping people look after their mental health and seek support at an earlier stage.
"Having a welcoming, non-clinical space where people can talk openly, receive practical advice and connect with other sources of support can help people feel less alone and better equipped to manage difficult periods in their lives.
"The Link is about making that support easier to access within the community, and working alongside existing health and social care services so that people can be connected with the right support for their individual needs.
"We're really pleased to be opening the doors and becoming part of the communities we serve."

The Link, which officially launched on Thursday, October 1, builds on the work previously provided through Crewecial Crisis Café, which has supported people in Crewe since 2022.
This new service brings together the experience and learning from Crewecial with a wider community-based approach, creating a space where people can access support before difficulties reach crisis point.
People can visit The Link hub in Macclesfield, along with a secondary location on Nantwich Road in Crewe, without a referral or any eligibility criteria.
There, the team will provide emotional support, practical advice and resilience-building, alongside activities and opportunities to connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.
The service can also provide information, advice and signposting to other local services, helping people connect with the most appropriate support for their individual needs.
To find out more, call The Link on 07587 507281 or email [email protected] or pop into the Macclesfield hub on Park Street, open 10am to 10pm daily.
