A new crime novel will be previewed in Macclesfield on Monday, one month before it is released.

James Ellson is a writer, smallholder, and speaker, who is coming to Macclesfield Library this month.

The crime writer will be previewing his new book Base Line on Monday, September 30 2024.

His debut novel The Trail was published in 2020. Base Line, the fourth book in the DCI Castle series, will be out in November.

James was a police officer for 15 years, and started in London before finishing as a detective inspector at Moss Side in Manchester.

He began writing in 2008, and his first novel was published in 2020, with a sequel out that very same year.

Book number four, also part of the same series, is titled Base Line.

The blurb of the book reads: "Investigating a tyre blowout on a school minibus is not what DCI Rick Castle had envisaged in his new job in charge of Special Investigations at South Manchester. He'd prefer to be making headway on a cold case murder, and following up leads from his recent press conference.

The book can be briefly described as

"Then drugs are found in his car, and he's arrested.

"The fourth book in the critically acclaimed DCI Castle series."

James will be at Macclesfield Library, Monday 30 September, 2pm. Tickets can be bought on this link.

Attendees of the event can also get a discount on the new fiction book.
