A new music festival will help to support a teacher battling motor neurone disease.

Paul Beardmore, owner of Happy Valley Honey, and his son Luke are preparing to stage their first public music festival, Kerrave.

Having hosted private events in the past, they have decided to take the jump and open it up to a wider audience.

Paul said: "I am quite excited but also nervous at this point, as it's our first public event!

"Hopefully it will be as well-received as our private events in the past.

"There is a lot hanging on its success, so getting the word out is really important."

Kerrave, which takes place at Bollington Civic Hall on Saturday, September 5, will help to raise money for Rob Hasler.

The father-of-two was diagnosed with MND in October 2024 and had to step away from teaching at Dean Valley Primary School the following year.

Since his diagnosis, the local community has raised over £77,000 to help Rob and his family live life to the fullest.

Paul said: "One of the DJs, Osci, who will be playing at the event has done a lot of fundraising and suggested that we put some of the profits towards a good cause.

"He suggested we choose Rob Hasler and I was more than happy to oblige!

"Running these nights isn't free — venue hire, equipment, bar stock, and paying our staff and DJs all add up. But we're not doing this for profit.

"The more tickets we sell and the more that's spent at the bar, the bigger the donation we can make. Once the bills are settled, everything left goes straight to #TeamHaslerMND."

Asked what to expect from Kerrave, Paul added: "We're hoping for a journey through the evening, sstarting fairly tame and ending up with some full-on sounds!

"The crowd will, to a degree, control the atmosphere, but hopefully we will end up with a solid group of individuals that are here for the music."
