A new hair salon has opened in Macclesfield town centre.
Wednesdays has opened on 50 Sunderland Street.
Macclesfield Nub News met with salon owner Paige Smith to find out more.
"I've always wanted to do hairdressing," said Paige.
"Life got in the way, I had a child, and then I finally decided to go back to College two years ago to finish my qualifications.
"Until now, I was renting a chair at another Macclesfield salon, but I just fancied a salon of my own where I could by myself!"
Wednesdays takes the place of an aesthetics business.
Paige particularly takes pride in hair colouring.
"My favourite thing to do is crazy colours," she revealed.
"I am very creative and hands on, I like in hairdressing that not every day is the same. I love all types of hair, but if someone comes in wanting bright colours and funky cuts, that's what I lived for."
And the business is imbued with an alternative spirit, with gothic ornaments and pop culture references throughout the shop.
The business is named Wednesdays as a gothic homage to Wednesday Adamms.
"I wanted something a bit different from the other salons in Macc," added Paige.
"I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their support. I owe them everything. Trying to get a full-time job as a single mum, and working around my son's schedule was not possible.
"So being my own boss means I can take him out, and do things."
The business is LGBTQ+ friendly, and Paige herself is a member of Macc Pride.
Her new salon is also doing their bit for the neurodivergent community in Macclesfield.
"I have ADHD, so once on a Monday I will do a day specifically for people who a neurodivergent to come and get their hair done," Paige said.
"So they can come in, choose if they want to talk or not, choose if they want to put music on. It will be a lot more quieter really.
"People feel really comfortable coming to me. I have had people from the LGBTQ+ community saying that they feel really welcome and safe.
"I like with this business how I can be myself. I can be professional when I need to be, but also silly and let people have fun if they want to, it doesn't have to be so clinical.
"I am looking to rent some chairs out in the future. I have space for another hairstylist, plus maybe nail and beauty people.
"I look forward to welcoming you."
Wednesdays hairdressers can be booked from Monday to Saturday.
Should you wish to get your hair done with Paige, the lifelong Macclesfield resident can be booked by messaging on Facebook.
You can also book in by ringing 07375 238807.
