A Macclesfield bar have donated money to grassroots football in Bollington.

Remedy Bar, which is a sports bar located in Duke's Court, donated £180 to community football.

In January, Remedy Co-Owner David Spruce revealed the new bar would be having a 'Beer of the Week', where a portion of sales of that beer would go in the charity pot.

Now that the sports season is snoozing for a while, the 35-year-old has counted and donated the funds raised for the bar's first six months.

"Thank you Macclesfield for your support", said David.

"£180 in grassroots football could pay for half a kit.

"It could also pay for 3G pitch to train on for six weeks.

"The players have come in as well, they like the fact that we are doing stuff for local football."

"Bollington Football Club have now merged with Bollington United, so there are 20 clubs now under one umbrella, competing on a Saturday and Sunday.

"The next phase will be to look at girls football, and in the future, disabled football as well. There's nothing too close, Stockport and Crewe are the nearest disabled football teams.

"We're sprucing up the club as well in terms of design. And we've just opened up to potential sponsors for the new season as well.

"Bollington United FC would love to have some new sponsors (as well as continue our relationship with pre-existing ones also. We want to keep fees as cheap as we can, especially for the children.

"I remember being a kid when my mum had to raid the penny jar for me to play. Unfortunately at the moment there is a shortage of funds, like with everything going on. But we have had a good start in getting subscriptions in and the money raised at Remedy will really help.
