The first Bollington Beer Festival in over three years will take place this month.

On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 July, Palmerston Street venue Bollington Arts Centre will be packed with local beer-lovers and local produce.

Funds will be raised for two Bollington causes, which profits this year going to Bollington Arts Centre and Bollington Festival 2024.

It is the first Bollington Beer Festival since 2019. The event has raised £14,000 over the years.

Chairman Phil Parry is excited for the return of the two-day event.

"Join us for two fabulous days of beer, food and live music, as we celebrate the ninth Bollington Beer Festival 2022 at Bollington Arts Centre", said Phil.

"For £8 you get your entry, a Festival glass and almost 50 beers to choose from.

"There's plenty of dark beers, stouts and porters. Fingers crossed we'll get some nice weather, which is great for those pale IPAs and ciders as well.

"We also have a gin bar, which we introduced in recent years.

"There's three sessions, Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening.

"The Saturday afternoon session is a little more chilled out, and designed for the whole family.

"It is completely volunteer-led. Nobody makes any money from it, and it all goes to good causes."

There are almost 50 volunteers, with Macclesfield Nub News' Editor being one of them.

This year's festival will be offering a variety of 46 beers and 15 ciders, many of them brewed locally, including Festivale and Bollington Best.

Food is also available, with food from Great King Street eatery Turquoise Sandwich Bar in Macclesfield on the Friday evening. Poynton's Special Edge Catering will cook on both the Saturday sessions.

There'll be live music including jazz, Bollington Brass Band, a bit of folk and on Friday evening with Macclesfield act Steller.

Saturday night in the way of performance has Bollington's very own Dr Joe's Medicine Show, who regularly perform at The Poacher's Inn on Ingersley Road. Bluegrass trio The Acoustibots will also take to the stage.

There is still the opportunity for businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring a barrel.

Considering the thousands expected to attend, your logo could be seen by potential customers.

"For the ninth year, main sponsor The Bollington Brewing Company is delighted to be supporting the festival.

"We also have the generous backing of over 30 others from local companies to individuals to help make it happen. There would not be a beer festival without their donations.

"We still have opportunities to get your name seen behind the bar.

"It costs just £50 to sponsor a cask of cider, and £100 for a cask of ale. You can have your name displayed on the front of the barrel, as well as being listed in the programme.

"It is a great way to promote your business and support your local community too.

"You'll receive one free ticket for every £25 of sponsorship, allowing entry to any of the three festival sessions, so it's a nice little package for business colleagues or friends as well. Any interested Macclesfield parties can email [email protected].

"Thank you everyone for their support."

Tickets are £8. Please click on the links below for your chosen session to get started. Buy early to avoid disappointment.
