A Macclesfield vegan café have announced a new name, in the same month as their two-year anniversary.

Still referencing their Greek origins, the breakfast and lunch-spot located on 34 Chestergate is now known as Nomas Gastrobar, or Nomas for short.

The new name is because of circumstances out of their control, but coincides with the businesses' birthday and a revamp of the interior layout.

Nomas Gastrobar co-founder Adonis Norouznia, who lives in Macclesfield explained what is behind the new name:

"Nomas means 'nomad' and a nomad is someone who lives by traveling from place to place," he said.

"This is something that we do for our customers by serving incredible food & drinks from around the world.

"Our menu is still going to be 100% plant-based. We still adore Macclesfield. And we will still be an independently owned business with family at its heart.

"We want to be completely transparent, this is not a decision we've taken lightly or organically for that matter.

"That being said, we love our new name and we love what it means.

"We cannot wait for our next chapter."

Their menu remains unchained, from serving vegan pancakes, gyros, and salads.

Signature items include the Nomas Burger, meat-free crunchy tacos and mushroom with truffle oil pasta (pictured).

The new name has also come with new seating, their back room can now service 13 covers, up from the previous eight.

New plugs are also in the back room for diners to charge their devices.

They are currently hiring for a full-time chef and barista, with plans to also announce a new partnership with a like-minded Macclesfield gym for their customers to make savings.
