A new shop selling protein, vitamins and supplements has opened in Central Macclesfield.

Supps Hub has opened on Charlotte Street, where Cohens Chemist used to be.

Supps Hub is the brainchild of Rob Wheeler.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Rob to find out what his new store is about.

"I've been in this industry for ten years now," said Rob.

"I've decided to branch out and open my own shop.

"I noticed in Macclesfield, there wasn't anything here like this. I noticed how many gyms are here, and specialised gyms from PT-led to strength and conditioning.

"A few gyms sell a few supplements, but the only real alternative to what we do is Holland and Barrett. But we are very different to them.

"The day this shop went up for rent, I arranged a viewing and decided to take it."

Products range from fat burners, to pre-workouts, and protein powders.

A vast selection of powders, with some flavours that even Willy Wonka couldn't think of, are sold. Such as carrot cake or fruit pastel protein powder.

They even have vegan products, such as plant-powered protein powder.

The one-stop supplement shop also has products for sale online, but a much broader range is in-store.

Furthermore, a benefit of coming into the store is meeting Rob.

"One of our great selling points is that we offer totally free advice," explained Rob.

"It doesn't even have to be for training. Someone can come in and go 'I'm not sleeping', 'I've got no energy', 'My immune system is down'. And we can go, 'what you need is this, this and this'.

"If I've tried a product, I will tell them what it is like. There's nothing worse than buying a big tub of protein, and not liking the flavour."

Rob, who trains at the gym opposite his new shop, is keen to work closely with fitness centres across the town.

"We've got a big range of brands here", added Rob.

"Quite a few brands that people have never said they have seen before."

When asked why his new shop is something that the high street needs, Rob had this to say:

Creatine, mass builders, and weightloss aids are also sold. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"The fitness industry is so big nowadays," told Rob.

"I used to be in the nightclub game, which has now fallen on hard times.

"But you go to a gym on Friday night and it is packed, that's where everyone is going to socialise.

"It is such a big thing now because everyone wants to look good because of Instagram. People like to take care of themselves, follow influencers and look good for their social media. And people also go to the gym to look after their mental health."

Supps Hub is open six days a week, and during their opening hours, the gym across the carpark is open, with Rob hoping to capture that market.

Their opening hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 8pm, and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.

And it is not just the customers that are strong, as the word of mouth about Supps Hub has been too.

"One of my favourite things about running the shop so far is meeting loads of local people," revealed Rob.

"On the day of opening, people were telling me about how they found out about us in their gym.

Supps Hub is located opposite a gym, which has over 7000 members. It is also a stone's throw away from Sunderland Street, which is home to three independent gyms. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"They all felt like this was missing from Macclesfield, which was quite nice to hear."

Supps Hub is located at 46-48 Charlotte Street, Macclesfield.
