A long-vacant unit in the Grosvenor Centre has a new purpose.

Posh Brats is the name of a brand new store coming to the indoor shopping centre.

The business has been going since 2008, and will now have a high street presence in Macclesfield.

Brittany De Staedtler is behind the business, which makes and sells things like body scrubs or home fragrances.

Brittany spoke with Macclesfield Nub News, about her new shop, opening soon in Macclesfield.

"Posh Brats began in 2008 about a year after I'd moved to the UK from the US," she said.

"I have been a cosmetic chemist for over 30 years and PB is the culmination of my science background combined with my passion for history, herbalism and the wealth of medicinal and functional plants native to Britain.

"As the years have gone by, we have developed products that celebrate the herbal diversity of Britain.

"This covers nature-based facial and body care products and aromatherapy formulae. We offer also the more playful side with great bath bombs and fizzies that are enjoyed by little ones as well.

"For the home we offer plant-based candles and melts and 100% botanical based potpourris and room sprays."

Despite being an expat, Brittany probably knows more about British plants than the majority of Macclesfield combined.

"We have one amazing potpourri (Tudor Castle) that is an exact recreation of a formula first developed by the infamous Elizabethan herbalist/botanist Nicholas Culpeper circa 1649," explained Brittany.

Their products are curated at Monks Heath Hall, Unit 6, Chelford Road, Nether Alderley. (Image - Posh Brats Ltd)

"Most potpourris you find commercially are a small amount of botanical material surrounded by cheap fillers of wood shavings, and chunky bits that have no scent and then the whole lot is doused in synthetic fragrance oils.

"Ours are nothing like this.... they are comprised 100% of dried herbs, flowers, and other natural aromatic elements. This means that people who are allergic or sensitive to synthetic fragrances can also be able to enjoy the beauty and fragrance of our natural blends.

"Everything we do is made right at our Cheshire workshops in Nether Alderley, we've been producing at that location for over 15 years, our first two years in business were spent in Congleton.

"We only purchase raw materials from British companies and whenever possible we use wildharvested or organically grown plants.

"We distill our own plant oils and hydrolats that are used in our products. This allows us to assure the small eco-footprint and the uncompromised quality of our end products."

The new Posh Brats store does not have a confirmed opening day as of yet, but this will be a permanent fixture of the Grosvenor Centre, not a pop-up.

Brittany has just launched an autumnal range of products. (Or as Brittany might say, fall!)

And indeed, it is this autumn when Brittany hopes to open her doors for the first time.

Posh Brats also have a website, where they have just launched a series of seasonal beauty and wellness products. (Image - Posh Brats Limited)

If you can't wait until a precise opening date is confirmed, you can buy their products on their website,

"The Grosvenor has been hugely helpful and supportive of us and our vision," she added.

"They are just as passionate as we are about bringing more small artisan businesses to Macclesfield and I can honestly say that they have gone above and beyond to facilitate this process for us.

"I encourage any local artisan/independant businesses into not assuming that the Grosvenor is out of their reach as a shopfront location, get in touch with them. They are absolutely lovely to deal with.

"This is so important for us, my husband is from Macclesfield, and while I hail from the US originally Macc has been my home since my arrival here 18 years ago. Our roots in Macc are very deep and we love it here.

"We did Treacle Market for the first couple years after they started and then opened a little shop in Macc on Church Street called Bathery.

"I'm sure many will remember that location. Bathery was open for a few years and then we found our wholesale manufacturing end was getting so busy we just didn't have time to run both.

"The past several years have found us growing that end of the company and we now ship product globally and produce white label for many high street brands.

"It's been in my mind to return to Macc high street and open another shop when the time is right.

"So when this opportunity presented itself, it felt like it was time to come back full circle.

"So this is hugely exciting for me and my husband, we look forward to welcoming back our Macc friends and meeting new ones!

"We feel like everyone is going to love our exciting new ranges.

"There are so many thrilling things that will be happening, even more products that will come, the ability to have your very own skincare formula developed based on individual needs, and live production demonstrations on-site too!"

Brittany sometimes tours the UK, to source seasonal plants to use in her products.

Top sellers include aromatheraphy wares and shower steamers.

And with Christmas on the horizon, there will be plenty of stocking fillers to purchase at Posh Brats.

The Grosvenor Centre, Macclesfield, has also been contacted for comment on the new opening. (Image - Posh Brats Ltd)

Posh Brats will be the first new store in the Grosvenor Centre since Jordan and Halstead Estate Agents, and before that, The Coffee House.

And Superdrug closing down this month, just around the corner, there will be one less cosmetic shop in the town until Posh Brats launch.

The Grosvenor Centre did not respond to comment, as of publication.

Posh Brats has also historically had a high street presence in Congleton.
