New Single 'Vitamins' from 'Macclesfield's Finest' Band Cassia

Macclesfield-band Cassia have released the next track from their soon-to-be-released EP Magnifier.

Vitamins is a soul-twinged indie song, which has themes many of us in lockdown will find relatable, according to Cassia singer-songwriter Rob Ellis.

"It's about being in a long distance relationship and the weirdly scheduled calls that become an unmissable fix, almost like a drug," he said.

"The distance can bring up all kinds of uncertainties and fears but knowing the next call isn't far away is like a vitamin boost that you need to get through the day, like a good Berocca."

Vitamins is a slower and smoother number than previous single Right There, which was released in April, when we spoke to the band about their hometown.

All of the band are from in and around Macc. Rob is from the village of Prestbury, bassist Lou Coterill hails from the Moss Estate, and completing the trio is Tytherington's Jake Leff.

Radio presenter Clara Amfo has described the band as "Macclesfield's Finest".

"We feel like we've had such a crazy journey over the past couple of years," Rob further explained.

"The band has taken us to so many places, and through countless experiences with amazing people.

"We wanted to fill the video with the moments that we feel mark the different chapters best, from venues in Macclesfield where we played our first ever gigs, to memories on tour and also some of our favourite spots in Berlin [where the band now live].

"We hope that all the people who have been with us along the way can take something from it."

The last year has been a time of deep introspection for the musicians, who have been holed up together in Berlin, living, writing and recording in the same house. Stranded over almost 900 miles from their loved ones in Macc.

With their joyful live shows on hold, they've playfully christened their German abode "Casa de Cassia".

The quietness and focus is worlds apart from their life as a band until now. In their airy top-floor studio, dislocated from all that's familiar, Cassia has found real fulfilment in writing about everyday life.

Vitamins will be joined on the upcoming EP by their other 2021 singles Gotta Get Through Til Monday and Right There,

The latter is still being played on BBC Radio 1, and has over 300,000 streams on Spotify as of May 2021.

Magnifier will be out in July via BMG, and it will be their second EP of the year after the Powerlines EP.

The Macclesfield band will play at the Manchester Ritz, on November 5.

They have over 33 million plays on Spotify as of May 2021.

You can also find the band on Apple Music, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and their website.

They also have 7,500 subscribers on YouTube where the lyric video for Vitamins premiered.

The video nods to various locations in Macclesfield. Which can you spot?
