A new start-up in Macclesfield wants to help businesses owned by mums to flourish.

The Mother Hub is a networking and social group started by Macclesfield resident and mum-of-two Clare Booth.

"The Mother Hub is a platform for mums who run their own businesses across Cheshire to be able to advertise themselves to be found by other mums," said Clare.

"Mums that do not run their own businesses can also use it to find businesses that are relevant to them.

"Our site promotes a lot of baby classes, mummy fitness groups. So they can easily hop on, find them in the directory, and they are all local to them. Which in turn, supports other mums as well.

"Being a mum myself, when I was on maternity leave both times, I would want to find local classes and connect with other mums.

"I work in marketing in Macclesfield, but know that being a working mum, you can get a bit lonely. So to have a website that hosts and promotes events, has blogs and other things that are relevant would be a helpful place to be.

"I want to make mums feel that we are not alone, and we are all in this together, making things easier for mums who want to make friends with other mums and feel they are part of a community.

"We're also running events to celebrate our launch. First up, is The Mother Hub Meet-Up club is a paid event in January in Alderley Edge.

"There will be Prosecco on arrival, a speaker talking about setting your goals for 2023, tips on overcoming obstacles with a motivation speaker, and a bit of self-love.

"Tickets are £20 each, and you can head to our website to find out how you can get a 25% discount."

Clare's new initiative has been timely, having launched in the year that the number of working mums in the UK is at a 20 year high.

Some of the events they will host or advertise on their site are baby-friendly as well.

However, you don't have to own a business to use The Mother Hub website or attend one of their events.

"We want to help businesses where mums are the heart and soul of the business to thrive.

"Lots of mums can feel overwhelmed as they are a mum and a business owner. So The Mother Hub is trying to support them with both aspects, by being a community.

"We've already got mum-led businesses signed up from various industries, from sleep consultants, stylists, to fitness workers.

"I love Macclesfield, it has got everything you could want as a family.

"If you are a mum in the local area, where you run a local business or not, there is something for you at The Mother Hub."
