A long-running Macclesfield pet food and accessory business have relocated.

Burgess Pets and Equestrian have just moved from 71 Great King Street to 72 Mill Street.

The town centre location is where Cheshire Streetwise charity shop used to be, and is to the left of Oxfam.

The family business has been going for 22 years. It is a joint operation between mother-daughter duo Sally and Sarah Burgess.

"We love our new home", said Sally.

"It is right in the town centre and there is plenty of footfall.

"We've only been open for the past few days, most of the shelves were packed and we already need a restock."

The new space has brought new products with it. From dog ramps to a wider range of frozen pet food.

Local products they sell include straw from a Macclesfield farm and various products from Sandbach.

Other highlights of their stock include a large amount of eco-friendly items like biodegradable dog's mess bags.

"We try to get as much natural and British products as possible," said Sarah.

"We know lots of our customers by name, but to be honest we know the dogs name's more often than the customers," joked Sally.

"Dogs are welcome in the store. In our old shop we had cats, ferrets, snakes, birds of prey and event a pheasant come in."
