Macclesfield Town Council election candidates revealed

Residents will have the opportunity to elect someone for two different positions when they head into polling both on Thursday May 4.

As well as voting to decide who will represent you at the larger local government authority Cheshire East Council, there is also the matter of town and parish elections.

Town Councils and Parish Councils across the Macclesfield area are also going to the polls.

Town Councils like Macclesfield Town Council deal with smaller, community-minded matters things like events, grants and sprucing up the town.

Whereas Cheshire East Council deal with things that can impact the wider borough like dealing with waste, planning applications and business rates. (See image above.

So today, we disclose the runners and riders for the Macclesfield Town Council elections of May 2023.

There are 12 current councillors across seven wards. We have listed the candidates across all political parties in no particular order.

Broken Cross and Upton, Central, South, Tytherington and West and Ivy wards elect two Town Councillors. Hurdsfield and East wards elect one.

The make-up of the candidates are 12 Labour candidates, 12 Conservatives, three Greens, and three Independents.

The outgoing Council is a mix of Labour and Independent candidates.
