Macclesfield Nub News turns three this week! Here's the most read stories of all-time

In the midst of the first lockdown, in the first week of April 2020, Macclesfield Nub News launched.

It was certainly no April fool! And now this weekend as well as Easter, Macclesfield Nub News is celebrating their third birthday.

Our mission was clear from the start. We wanted to bring clickbait-free, independent journalism to Macclesfield.

We operate with one staff member who writes 20-30 articles per week.

Three years later, we have tens of thousands of weekly views, and over 6,000 followers on Facebook.

Thank you for your support of our free news platform for all things Macc.

To celebrate, we are revealing the most read Macclesfield Nub News stories of all time.

2020: Coronavirus survivor praises 'brilliant' staff at Macclesfield Hospital

Way back in April 2020, we spoke with one of the first coronavirus survivors at Macclesfield Hospital.

The man and his wife were full of praise for the staff at our town's hospital on Victoria Road.

It is a fascinating local take interpreting how COVID-19 was perceived in the first days of the pandemic.

2021: New Macclesfield steak restaurant will bring up to 50 jobs

Interest in Castle Street restaurant Prime Cut Bar and Grill was shown last summer, with a series of popular-performing articles on Macclesfield Nub News.

The best, was our exclusive announcement that the new steakhouse would bring up to 50 jobs to our town. It is our ninth most read piece on this list.

2020: In pictures: Hundreds gather in Macclesfield town centre for Black Lives Matter demonstration

Having over a quarter-of-a-million views on Facebook, and a couple thousand article clicks, our coverage of the Black Lives Matter movement in June 2020 was one of the first big hits for Macc Nub.

The article includes a gallery of photos captured by a Bollington-based photographer.

2021: Former Manchester United player wants to open a bar in Macclesfield

While councillors are still deliberating over whether to decide going ahead with it or not, Macclesfield Nub News got a huge coup when they first reported on a Premier League footballer wanting to open a bar in Macc.

When the plans are approved or not, rest assured, Macclesfield Nub News will be first to report on it.

2021: Young entrepreneur partners with 'Geordie Shore' star to open beauty academy in Macclesfield

A story with celebrity appeal and small business success, Kyle Frost was just 20 when he opened his fourth enterprise in our town.

The young entrepreneur has since opened a fifth business, but it was our story with him in June 2021 which was a massive hit.

2021: Macclesfield: Five years for mother-daughter boutique and gift store Moulina

Macclesfield Nub News is a family brand, and family stories always resonate well with our readers.

In December 2021, we spoke with Jane and Jade Tideswell (the latter of which was the photographer for the aforementioned Black Lives Matter Story).

The mother-daughter duo recently celebrated five years for their boutique shop in Tytherington.

2022: Macclesfield FC seal promotion with comfy win over Ashton Athletic

Before Macclesfield's second promotion in 2023, there was The Silkmen's first in 2022.

We recorded the last minutes of the match and took photos of the celebrations as Macclesfield FC won promotion for the first time.

2022: New Cantonese Restaurant Opens on Park Lane

In summer of 2022, Macclesfield Nub News was the first news outlet to report on Turquoise Garden.

Opening where Wings Takeaway used to be, it offers authentic Cantonese dishes and Chinese favourites.

They are open five days a week, and will also allow orders to be collected and taken home.

2023: New Bollington restaurant KIRA by Sunitha celebrates first fortnight 

An ambitious restaurant which wants to get Macclesfield's first Michelin star has been covered numerous times by Nub News.
