A new bus route has started, which is serving Macclesfield.

High Peak Buses has been awarded the contract from Cheshire East to operate the Sunday 130 service.

The route was first utilised on Sunday June 9.

This service will follow the route from Macclesfield to Handforth Dean, via Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Colshaw Farm and Handforth.

David Brookes, Managing Director of D&G Buses (of which High Peak Buses are a sister firm) had his say on the new services.

"We're pleased to operate additional weekend and evening journeys on services 12, 38 and 130 funded through the Cheshire East Bus Service Improvement Plan," said David.

"This funding will go hand in hand with the significant investment we've made in brand new low emission buses for the 38 service.

"And give Cheshire East residents a more convenient and comprehensive bus network."

David encouraged that we should consider taking this form of transportation rather than our own.

This idea goes and in hand with the new low emission buses being brought in by the company to try and do their part to fight back against issues surrounding climate change

"I'd encourage people to leave the car at home," David explained.

"Give these enhanced weekend and evening journeys a try."
