Macclesfield MP David Rutley has tweeted his support for The Royal Family, as the Queen is believed to be in ill-health.

At 2.03pm, David Rutley MP tweeted 'Our thoughts and prayers are with Her Majesty the Queen', following news of the 96-year-old being under medical supervision at Balmoral.

The Macclesfield MP since 2010 also retweeted the sentiments of his new boss about Her Majesty, in only his second tweet about Liz Truss.

"The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime," said Prime Minister Liz Truss.

"My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."

The latest statement from The Royal Family on Queen Elizabeth II reads as follows:

"Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

The Queen visited Macclesfield twice in her life, once in the 20th century and once in the 21st century.
