A large employer in Macclesfield has applied for over 200 more parking spaces.

AstraZeneca, of Charter Way, Hurdsfield, seeks to expand its bicycle storage and car parking provision.

The pharmaceutical company seeks to add 204 more spaces, to a space which currently has just nine car parking spaces.

Associated infrastructure would come with the plans, if approved.

An AstraZeneca spokesperson said: "AstraZeneca Macclesfield is a constantly evolving, dynamic site with a footprint of over 100 acres, and we regularly re-purpose different buildings and areas of the site.

"We also have a stated intention of being net zero carbon by the end of 2025, and our green commuting strategy and associated facilities - including making provision for those people who want to cycle to work – will contribute to this.

"This planning application is not related to a specific investment, but is about making sure our campus is a great place to work for the 5,000-plus people who are based here and who come to work using a variety of means, including by car or by bike."
