Seven new neonatal cots have been donated to the maternity ward at Macclesfield Hospital, thanks to a generous donation from children's charity MedEquip4Kids.
The cots, which provide a safe environment for parents to place their new arrivals in at their bedside, were donated in time for the reopening of the service in June 2023.
The cots were priced at £1002.40 each and the Manchester-based charity purchased seven units for Macc Hospital.
MedEquip4Kids improves the health and wellbeing of babies and children in the UK by providing equipment and facilities not available from limited NHS resources.
Each baby born on the ward needs a cot to maintain sleep safety, with the donated cots also providing storage space underneath for storing relevant medical equipment and records.
Emma Galsworthy, Deputy Head of Midwifery at East Cheshire NHS Trust said, "The cots not only look new and modern compared to what we had previously, but they also provide the women with a safe environment to place their newborn in at their bedside."

"It's fantastic to see new mums and babies benefiting from the new equipment, which is contributing to a safe and comfortable environment in the maternity unit. We'd like to say a special thank you to all the donors who helped us make this possible."

Since 1985, MedEquip4Kids have raised over £25 million to fund neo natal and paediatric medical equipment, sensory and play facilities in hospitals, specialised equipment for disabled children, and mental health support.
Last year their projects had a positive impact on the health of 120,882 babies, children and young people. And now, even more little ones from Macclesfield benefit from them.
