Discover a hidden gem of Church Street, which literally sells gemstones among other cosy gifts.

Pachamama, started in October 2021, is a carefully curated homeware gift shop, with items focussed on wellness and a homely feel.

Life-long Macclesfield resident Lois Hallam-Clayton has just had a new sign put up for her store, and to celebrate, spoke with Macclesfield Nub News.

"Pachamama is a gift shop that promotes wellness, discovery, and self-healing," said Lois.

From crystals of all sizes, to fortune-telling greetings cards, Pachamama serves Macclesfield a niche with a homely vibe. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"I have a lot of customers who have struggled during lockdown. And there is a huge market nowadays for buying crystals. They are my best-sellers.

"I like to think of my shop as a community as well. I have a lady who comes in who gives me her own fruit and veg, another gives me flowers as well.

"I have regular customers now who come in, have a cup of tea, we sit down and have discussions about the world or themselves.

"My future plans are to hopefully have some seating outside and just some simple tea and coffee, and to set up group events to have more open chats.

From stress-releving stones to ones that help with intimacy, Lois' gemstones are a big-seller along with crystals. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"I want to do sound healing, energy healing, reiki and crystal healing events as well.

"We sell ornaments for your home that mean something to people.

"Everything I buy is something I personally love."

From mineral rocks to interior design clocks, or charms made out of Shropshire steel, Pachamama sells a wide variety of goods.

Incense, candles and individual stones are some of her popular, cheaper products, but also there is a carefully curated selection of more expensive goods as well.

This includes local art of Macclesfield landmarks, and heart-themed trinkets.

"A lot of people that come in have struggled with anxiety, depression, addiction," added Lois.

"So they come in, either explore on their own intuition or a guide them about what product would fit them.

Whether it is a wedding present or a treat for yourself, Pachamama sells a luxurious and relaxing range of gifts. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"I like to think of my shop as a safe space. I came up with the business idea in response to seeing people struggling during the pandemic.

"My mum and my husband work here, and he's just designed a lovely new sign for us as well that people have loved.

"I love working here for the people that come in, seeing them and helping them. The shop has such a nice energy as well.

"Being a business on Church Street is amazing as well. Everyone gets along, we look out for each other, and hope in the future to arrange themed events to help the street get busier and more well-known. It is a beautiful road."

Pachamama translates to Mother Earth in Native Peruvian tongue.
