Packhorse Bowling & Social Club to remain OPEN
Packhorse Bowling & Social Club to remain OPEN

We are delighted to confirm that following a vast effort by existing members, the Packhorse Bowling & Social Club will remain fully open.

A new committee was accepted at the Club AGM on Friday 23 October and we intend to hit the ground running despite Covid restrictions.

This action comes after a shock announcement in August that the Club would permanently close.

As a result, a group of approximately 30 members formed a working party and subsequently set about understanding the situation and investigating what could be done to save the Club.

The new committee offers a vast range of knowledge and experience to take the club forward as well as the appointment of a new venue management team which will be announced shortly.

With a membership of 180, a great function space, a superb bowling green and adjacent new housing being built, we are extremely confident that the club will be sustainable for years to come.

Incoming Chairman Kevin Brooks adds: "We are excited for the future of the Packhorse and are determined to ensure our Club remains at the heart of our community for the long term. We pay tribute to the hard working outgoing committee who have given their all over many years but fresh enthusiasm and ideas from our members will drive us forward."

The Packhorse Bowling & Social Club will remain open with current arrangements until 14 November when a period of handover and auditing will take place. Exact dates and future opening hours will be communicated soon.

For any enquiries or questions, please initially direct these to the Secretary - Robert Stirling,
