Parents urge childcare provider to reconsider 'unfathomable' decision to close nursery

Parents have been left 'devastated' after finding out their children's nursery is to shut.
Beech Hall Nursery contacted parents earlier this week to confirm that the site will be closing on July 20.
The decision, which will impact around 65 children and 13 members of staff, came without any consultation or prior warning.
A letter signed by more than 90 parents has since been sent to the CEO of Beech Hall Nursery's parent company, Outcomes First Group (OFG), David Leatherbarrow, urging them to reconsider.
"We are writing to express our strong concerns and disappointment regarding the abrupt decision to close Beech Hall Nursery in Macclesfield," the letter reads.
"This decision has been made without consultation, transparency, or due consideration of the severe impact it will have on children, families, and the dedicated nursery staff."

The letter continues, explaining that Beech Hall Nursery recently received an outstanding rating and has been a 'cornerstone' of early years education in the community.
"It seems unfathomable that such a well-established and highly regarded nursery with excellent reports would be closed."
Additionally, many local nurseries are fully subscribed until 2026, leaving families with no immediate alternative childcare options.
The letter continues: "This decision demonstrates a clear lack of awareness of the early years sector in the area and a complete failure to conduct due diligence regarding the impact on affected families.
"The closure of Beech Hall Nursery without securing adequate childcare solutions for the children it serves is both irresponsible and deeply distressing for those who rely on it.
"This decision also has significant implications for the dedicated nursery staff, many of whom will face limited local recruitment options and employment uncertainty. "
For David and Nicole Schofield, this marks the second time they have faced a nursery closure in Macclesfield in just over a year.
Based on their repeated experience, they are now advocating for government policy changes to prevent similar situations for other families in the future.
"We simply cannot stand by and watch this happen again and again," said David.
"The lack of consideration for families is appalling, and urgent action is needed to stop this from happening to others."
A website, www.savebeechallnursery.com, and a Facebook page have now been set up.
David added: "If anyone can support us whether through printing, advertising, leafletting, legal advice, or any other help there is a form on our website - we would be incredibly grateful.
"Every bit of support makes a difference in this fight for our children's wellbeing and future."
OFG has been approached for comment.
