Picturesque pub to close amid declining visitor numbers and rising overheads

One of Cheshire's most picturesque pubs is to close.
The Hanging Gate Inn in Higher Sutton will serve its final pints next month.
Moving forward, the venue will turn focus to the accommodation side of the business.
A Facebook post announcing the decision reads: "In 2020 we had a dream to bring the Hanging Gate back to life.
"Sadly, over the past six years we have seen a decline in visitors, changes in drinking habits, and don't even get us going on the economy!
"Overheads have soared, and despite doing everything ourselves to keep costs down, we just can't go on.
"We have put blood, sweat and tears into this pub and are sad to say we will be closing on Sunday, September 20, to focus on our plans for guest accommodation.
"Thank you to those who have supported us over the years, we hope you will pop in to see us before we close."
