A central Macclesfield retail unit which had a planning application to become an apartment, has had its application withdrawn.

21 Church Street, formerly occupied by NV Beauty until they moved out in November 2023, had an application to become a solitary flat, submitted last month.

But it appears the plans to turn it into a flat, have fallen flat, at least for now.

That is because the application has withdrawn the application, just 28 days after it was registered to the Cheshire East Council planning portal.

The proposed flat was for a one bedroom apartment, with the same bins and sewage used as per before. No internal floor space is proposed to be added to the pre-existing 30 square metres.

Residents were able submit comments until September 18. But seven days before, the application has been withdrawn.

No reason has been given, nor were any representations from the public, made public.

At the start of the year, Macclesfield Nub News reported a sign in the window which read 'OPENING SOON'.

However, the signs were removed and a new business has not opened there since.

Fast forward to August, the now scrapped planning application had been submitted. But now, it has been withdrawn.

It is possible that another could be submitted in due course, but this previous planning application is now history.
