Police appeal for information after schoolboy threatened with knife

Police have launched an appeal for information after a schoolboy was threatened with a knife.

All Hallows Catholic College sent out a warning to parents last week after one of their pupils was approached by three men wearing balaclavas.

The 17-year-old ran off after being threatened by one of the men, who was armed with a knife.

Now, Cheshire Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.

 A spokesperson for the force said: "At 9pm on February 27 police received a report that a 17-year-old boy was walking along a footpath near Haldene Road in Macclesfield had been approached by three men, one of whom had a knife on him.

"The man threatened the boy who ran off.

"The three suspects were wearing balaclavas.

"Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 2036823.

"Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The school sent out an email to parents and guardians the day after the incident.

It read: "A male student was approached by three males in balaclavas, with a knife. 

"This happened approximately 8pm last night in the Bollin Meadow grasslands area, between College and Chester Road.

"The incident has been reported to the police.  

"Please can you speak to your child about the importance of being vigilant and keeping themselves safe whilst out and about.

"The student is shaken, but otherwise safe and uninjured."
