Police in Macclesfield have issued a 'Naked Man Alert' following reports of a man running around rural areas "with his crown jewels on show" or obscured by a "teeny tiny bum-bag".

Sgt Snowdon wrote the humorous appeal for information on the Macclesfield Police Facebook page asking people to report the naked rambler if seen.

Sgt Snowdon wrote: "This is not what I thought I would be doing when I filled in the application form (many, many years ago now) to join the Rozzers."

Police are looking to know if people have seen the man running in the nip around the borders of Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire who can describe his face, not necessarily the rest of him.

The appeal has captured the imagination of locals with 386 shares on Facebook and around 400 comments on the post.

Police have urged anyone who has saw the man to report it to the relevant force using 101 or online on their website.
