Police investigating as driver 'seriously' injured after crashing into tree

Police are investigation a crash near Macclesfield.

At around 7am on Wednesday (May 14), officers were called to reports of a crash on the A34 in Siddington.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that a blue Kia Sportage that had crashed into a tree.

The driver of the Kia, a 62-year-old man from Holmes Chapel, sustained 'serious' injuries.

Police are in the early stages of their investigation and are appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to get in touch with them, as well as anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage which captured what happened.

Inspector Steve Griffiths said: "Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances, and we are now looking for anyone who witnessed what happened or may have dashcam or video doorbell footage of the incident to come forward to help us identify the vehicle involved.

"Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website or on 101, quoting IML-2089540."
