Farmers have been urged to stay 'vigilant' following a burglary.

Cheshire Police's rural crime team have today (May 12) launched an investigation into a break-in and theft in Adlington overnight.

The offender(s) have taken a dark green Yamaha Grizzly 350cc quad bike.

"As with any machinery theft, stealing quads like this have a huge impact of farming operations," said PC John Teasdale.

"These are vital tools for farmers to tend to their animals and crops.

"This mindless and selfish act of theft is despicable.

"We'd urge everyone to review their security measures."

He added: "Along with colleagues from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit an investigation into this theft is now underway.

"Please be vigilant and if you see this bike being used or have any information as to its whereabouts please contact us on 101 and quote IML2088038."
