An elderly man is in hospital following a crash in Macclesfield.

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash on the A537 Cumberland Street.

Officers arrived at the scene, near the roundabout connecting to Chester Road, at around 9.20am on Saturday, February 14.

They found a grey Skoda Octavia and a pedestrian had been involved in the collision.

The pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, was taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries to his leg and arm.

Constable Barnard from Cheshire Police's Roads and Crime unit said: "This collision has occurred on an arterial route through Macclesfield, and we are looking for anyone who witnessed the collision directly to contact us.

"The same goes for anyone who may have captured the incident on dashcam footage."

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the force's website, quoting IML-2270773.
