A new embroidery workshop is coming to a Macclesfield café.

Self Care Creatives have received funding from Cheshire Community Foundation for Macclesfield residents to attend new creative wellbeing classes at The Monocle Cafe.

The new free thread journaling sessions will start later this month.

Organiser and embroidery expert Steph Evans said: "Macclesfield residents can come along for a morning of creative self care with Thread Journal embroidery kit, warm welcome, hot drink, and cake all for free."

"Thread journaling is the art of using thread to represent and record your everyday experiences as miniature stitches. This can be done daily, weekly, monthly or whenever you fancy.

Steph Evans is an expert embroiderer.

"Classes are centred on capturing memories and practicing gratitude through active mediation whilst developing skills, building confidence and a community. Suitable for beginners or experienced embroiderers.

"The next session is on Thursday 13th June between 10.30-12pm."

The sessions have been an overnight hit, before even taking place.

"Our first date was fully booked within 24 hours of announcing it, but we have another 4 dates with availability that residents can book onto," told Steph.

"It's also definitely worth joining the wait list as often spaces can become available."

Ash Blades co-owns The Monocole, the venue which will host the new workshops.

It is one of many creative events held at the west Chestergate coffee shop.

"We are very excited to welcome Steph with her embroidery workshop," said Ash.

"At The Monocle we want to support local artists and makers; and Steph's workshop also focuses on being mindful and promotes good mental health which is a amazing use of embroidery."
