Residents have been told to put their bins out early with temperatures are set to soar.

Temperatures are forecast to reach the high 20s and into the low 30s towards the end of the week.

With this in mind, Cheshire East Council has confirmed that bin collection crews will be setting out earlier than usual.

A statement released on Wednesday, July 8, reads: "Due to the expected high temperatures over the next few days, we will be starting bin collections earlier than normal to help ensure we can complete as many collections as possible.

"Please make sure your bins are out for collection by 5am.

"This includes Saturday, July 11, when crews will also be working on any missed collections."

With road temperatures expected to hit 52c in parts of Cheshire East this week, the council's highways teams are out monitoring and responding across the borough.

Gritters will also be out, applying granite dust to improve safety.

A Facebook post shared by Cheshire East Council reads: "UK roads are typically designed for wet, cold and changeable weather conditions, and can respond differently during periods of prolonged and intense heat.

"Recently surface dressed roads, delivered as part of this year's programme, are more likely to be affected by these temperatures.

"Surface dressing uses bitumen - a black binding material that holds the road together - with stone on top. In high temperatures, it can soften and rise."

For goodness sake,
When I worked on the Crewe and Nantwich council you dug your heels in and got on with the job, there was an insensitive called a bonus to be earned which was approximately 25% of your pay no work no bonus.
I don't suppose they have ensentives anymore.
I worked on the highway department as a paviors mason,
In the high of summer myself and my labourer laid 33 yards of kerbs , 33 yards of channel.
Also shifted 4 square metres of concrete no problem.
I'm all for the refuge collector being done early but please leave my bin where you find it and not half way up the street.
We value your contribution 👍

This is becoming a joke especially in sandbach , no green or grey emptied today 8/7/2026, AGAIN .Why don’t the bin men do split shifts ,6/2 2/10 .
This climate change is here for the future so the council need to start planning .
