Macclesfield good cause The Rossendale Trust are seeking your support, having taken the very difficult decision to cancel their annual Fete for the second year running.
The Fete, normally held at Rossendale Hall, is the Trust's biggest fundraising event of the year.
The Trust hope that the local community will now get behind their Virtual Fete to help them raise funds. All money raised from the Virtual Fete will go directly to support adults with learning disabilities living at the Trust. Funds will be used for activities, experiences and holidays for the Trust's tenants – providing them opportunities to live full and meaningful lives, as independently as possible within their communities.
Brave jungle explorers, Steve Nichols (CEO at the Trust) and Sue Heaven (Head of Fundraising) are taking on the ultimate Bush Tucker trial as part of this Virtual Jungle extravaganza.
They will be going head-to-head as they are served a 'delicious' menu of jungle critters and nasties. But what will they eat? And who will be crowned king or queen of the Rossendale Jungle?
In order to watch these two intrepid explorers, brave the delicacies they are served, the Trust are asking you to donate. Only if donations reach £1000 will they air the trial on Sunday 5th September for everyone to watch
Sue Heaven, Head of Fundraising, said "The Trust's Annual Fete normally raises in the region of £10,000 for the people we support so once again we have had to act and think outside of the box to find alternative ways to fundraise. I never imagined it would involve me eating horrendous things in a Bush Tucker Trial though!!"
Alongside the trial there will be other virtual ways that people can join in the fun, including entering a duck in our Jungle Duck race, guessing the number of snakes in a jar, purchasing an afternoon tea (no critters included!) and by buying raffle tickets to a grand prize draw.
Full details of how you can donate and join in the fun can be found at this webpage.
