Schools will stay closed with more snow forecast.

Macclesfield College is among a number of schools to have confirmed they will remain shut on Tuesday, January 7.

The decision comes as the Met Office predicts more snow overnight and throughout the day tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Macclesfield College said: "Following today's closure due to the snow and ice, we have now made the decision to remain closed tomorrow.

"With the current weather forecast, low temperatures and icy conditions around our campus, we feel this is the safest option to protect our staff and students.

"Remote learning will take place, so please check ItsLearning for updates and instructions from your teachers.

"Anyone due to sit exams will be contacted directly.

"As always, keep an eye on our social media channels for further updates.

"Stay safe and take care!"

Also staying closed is Whirley Primary School.

"Thank you for your support today," read a post on the school's Facebook page.

"We are keen to give parents as much notice as possible in relation to school opening tomorrow.

"At the moment the forecast over night is some snow and freezing temperatures.

"Assuming the forecast is accurate, our plan for school tomorrow is to remain closed with remote learning available from 9am.

"We will update this plan formally at 7.15am.

"Thank you for your ongoing support.

"Our main priority is the safety of our staff and students and if Whirley road continues to be a danger to navigate- this will be the best solution."

Park Lane Special School was also closed on Monday but as of yet, no decision has been made on whether to reopen on Tuesday.

A spokesperson said: "Thank you for your understanding today, we hope you all had a fun but safe day in the snow.

"Please keep an eye on Facebook and school texts/emails in the morning for announcements about tomorrow.

"Forecasts are mixed so it is still uncertain.

"The decision will be made as early as possible so as to inform transport and families in good time.

"The decision to close the school is never taken lightly."
